Job Opportunity: On-Site Program Coordinator (Part-Time)
For over 35 years, Pittsburgh Youth Chorus (PYC) has been a leader in vocal music education in the Pittsburgh region. Serving approximately 170 students in year-round programming and 200 more through special events, we strive to inspire and empower the young singers who participate in our programs, preparing them for lives of personal and public leadership.
PYC seeks an On-Site Program Coordinator to begin in January 2022. This role is the chief organizational liaison to our participating singers and families, providing logistical support during rehearsals, concerts, and other events such as collaborations with Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and Pittsburgh Opera.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
Reporting Relationships: Reports to Program Manager and Artistic Director
Job Schedule:
Main Season (September to May): 5-10 hours per week on average with Monday evening rehearsals being the primary time commitment; additional evening/weekend hours on occasion as needed
Summer: Two week-long camps require an onsite presence for the full day
Compensation and Benefits: $8,000 base salary. Main Season workweeks that exceed 12 hours will be compensated at $20/hr for every hour after the initial 12. Option to participate in group health care plan at employee’s expense.
Location: On-site work takes place in downtown Pittsburgh and other various sites around the region; some administrative work can be done remotely.

QUALIFICATIONS and PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Sincere enjoyment of working with youth and belief in the importance of music education
Strong communication/interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail
Reliability, punctuality, and willingness to adopt a “first-to-arrive / last-to-leave” mentality
This role routinely requires sitting and standing for extended periods of time, and requires occasionally bending forward, crouching, and lifting/pushing/pulling/carrying up to 30 lbs.
Basic computer proficiency (email, word processing, and basic spreadsheets) is required
Act 33/34 clearances, FBI background check, and vaccinated for COVID-19 (or compliance with protocols for reasonable accommodations)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
General
Attend all Monday evening rehearsal, scheduled placement sessions, season concerts, and contracted performances
Coordinate regularly with Program Manager to prepare for on-site events
Serve as on-site liaison between artistic/administrative staff and singers’ families
Provide logistical support for singers, artistic staff, and parent volunteers
Perform other duties and attend other meetings as needed
Rehearsal and Concert Coordination
Greet singers and families at Monday evening rehearsals, maintain accurate attendance records
Prepare and distribute physical supplies (i.e. sheet music, music bags, apparel, etc.)
Assume responsibility for equipment and other logistics (i.e. risers, music stands, amplification, lighting, volunteers, backstage supplies, etc.)
Summer Camps
Reside on campus during 5-day residential camp and be present each day for 5-day day-camp
Provide logistical support and perform duties related to rehearsal coordination outlined above
Supervise parent volunteers
Serves as on-site point of contact with campus/facility officials
