The Pittsburgh Youth Chorus & Hill Dance Academy Theatre are thrilled to co-present the youth premiere of CROSSINGS, a choral ballet celebrating its 30th Anniversary. CROSSINGS was written by composer and performer Ysaÿe Barnwell and choreographer, writer, and filmmaker David Roussève.
CROSSINGS is a coming-of-age story - told through dance, vocal music, and spoken word - of a young Black woman growing up “Uptown” and confronting racism in her community. It is a story of empowerment, highlighting the value of inner strength and the importance of cultivating beauty in the way we see ourselves and our community.
Tickets are pay-what-you-can, but advanced registration is required. This special performance will feature Pittsburgh Youth Chorus singers, Hill Dance Academy Theatre dancers, and dancers and singers who are students at Pittsburgh CAPA.
Thank you to the Opportunity Fund for supporting this performance.
