Pittsburgh Youth Chorus is deeply committed to financial accessibility for all singers interested in joining our programs. We are also committed to ensuring PYC's financial soundness so that we can continue to offer the region's best choral music education for years to come.

In 2021, with these commitments in mind, we significantly increased the tuition subsidies offered to our diverse collective of young singers through the implementation of a Sliding Scale tuition structure and other programs that guarantee affordability for families in our community. In the 2022-23 Season, PYC provided an average of $250 in tuition subsidies per each singer enrolled. We knew that our greatest potential for establishing both long-term affordability and organizational strength was to simply communicate these goals to our community of supporters and ask if they would participate in what we were doing. Since 2020, we've seen our number of donors grow from 26 to over 200, and our revenue from donor contributions has nearly doubled!

We are incredibly grateful for such a positive response to the work we are doing, and as we continue to move towards our goal of having our donations equal the tuition subsidies we offer, we are also working to make it even more meaningful - and more fun - to be a donor!

For the 2023-24 Season, we have a goal of raising $22,500 from individual donors, AND we have established giving tiers and perks for our PYC families who would like to give to this program.

A donation at this level pays for the average tuition discount offered to our singers.

premium family sponsor

Every season, we have several young singers whose family's financial needs call for substantial tuition assistance for them to participate. Likewise, we have generous donors who give at a level to pay for such assistance. Unlike the other tier, this tier is not built into our tuition payment page.
