high school choirs

Grades 9-12

PYC's two high school choirs are Headwaters and the Bridge City Singers who are typically in grades 9-12. Headwaters is PYC's high school ensemble for treble voices (soprano/alto). The Bridge City Singers is PYC's high school ensemble for changed voices (tenor/baritone/bass).

Singers in both groups learn music theory, aural training, and performance skills, including choreography. Individual attention is given to each singer as their voice develops. They sing advanced-level repertoire in three- and four-part harmony and many styles and genres. The two groups also combine to sing challenging repertoire for mixed voices.

High School Choirs rehearse Sundays at 5:30-7:30 PM | Duquesne University School of Music | January-May only

how to join pyc

Each new PYC singer in grades 3+ is required to participate in a placement session which is a short group format session where PYC conductors can determine the best choir placement for your singer! This is not an audition, but a fun activity that will feel comfortable and let your singer just enjoy singing! All placement sessions take place at Duquesne University.
